Amazon plans to launch a new budget storefront for low-priced fashion and lifestyle items, directly competing with popular e-commerce sites Temu and Shein. The storefront will feature unbranded products under $20 and be shipped directly from China to US customers.
The company has also made efforts to court more Chinese sellers, announcing a new "innovation center" in Shenzhen and slashing fees for merchants selling cheap apparel. It all makes sense when taking into account the fact that Chinese sellers on Amazon have grown significantly (20% year over year, to be exact). On top of that, the number of Chinese merchants with sales upward of $10 million increased by 30%. This makes the company's push to compete with Temu and Shein even more critical.
