Amazon’s Holiday Halt: Workers Strike During Busiest Time of Year
Many Amazon employees have chosen to go on strike right before the holidays.By going on strike during these crucial periods, workers hope to put pressure on the company to address their concerns such as improved safety measures.
Despite the pressure, Amazon has shown little concern and assures customers that due to its large network of partners, fulfillment shouldn't be an issue. Nonetheless the strike has caused friction within operations making it harder for those who've chosen not to strike.
From Turkey to Tech: How the Cyber 5 Broke Sales Records
The Cyber 5, a five-day period starting with Thanksgiving and ending on Cyber Monday, set new records in 2024 for online sales in the United States. Despite economic uncertainty and inflation, consumers showed a strong desire to shop online, with total spending reaching $41.1 billion.
While each day saw growth, Black Friday and Thanksgiving had the biggest increases in sales compared to the previous year. Cyber Monday also lived up to its name by bringing in a record-breaking $13.3 billion in online sales. However, interestingly enough, there was a decrease in the number of people shopping online during this time compared to 2023.
With its unique focus on short-form videos, TikTok Shop has become a popular avenue for promotion. However, if the supposed ban takes effect, it could mean a shift to other platforms such as YouTube or Facebook Marketplace.
As we wait to see how this unfolds, it serves as a reminder for businesses alike to have a multi-faceted approach when it comes to platforms. So, while the future of TikTok remains uncertain, its impact on the world of social media retail has been undeniable.
