Commercial Break Time: Amazon To Introduce Ads To Prime Video.

Gone are the days of streaming ad-free Prime Video…or at least for free: Prime Video users will now see ads by default, setting Amazon apart from competitors like Netflix and Disney+. For users who want to stream ad-free, a $3 monthly charge will apply. For Amazon, which is already boasting a $38 billion advertising business, an additional $5 billion is projected.
Amazon's extensive data and advertising options make it a formidable competitor to traditional TV networks and digital platforms. The success of Amazon's advertising initiative, however, cannot be assumed. With only 3.3% of viewership, it trails Netflix and struggles to attract non-endemic advertisers.
New Year, New PayPal: Everything We Know About PayPal’s New AI Features
PayPal is stepping it up: Investing into AI seems to be what all the “cool kids” are doing these days, and PayPal wants in. 6 new AI integrations are being introduced by PayPal to help improve checkout experiences and integrate Venmo.
Alex Chriss, president and CEO of PayPal, announces, “From new solutions for merchants to speed up checkout and personalize offers, to a new consumer app that will give our loyal customers more reasons to shop with PayPal, to the next generation of Venmo designed to be the growth platform for local small businesses, PayPal has always brought the future of money to our consumers and merchants and today marks the next revolution”.
A Gift for All: Etsy Incorporates New Gift Mode with Machine Learning
Gifting season is back already? Well, for Etsy, it is: Esty is geared up and ready to become the top destination for gift-giving by introducing its new “Gift Mode.” The machine learning tool prompts the gift giver to answer a few questions about the gift recipient to sort the intended gift recipient into one of 200 personas.
And the rumor is that this is just one part of Etsy’s plan to grow as a gifting destination. “Our vision is to create a gift-shopping experience that supercharges everyone’s gift-giving potential. From consideration to discovery to logistics, we will be a tailor-made, one-stop experience for every gifting occasion,” states CEO Josh Silverman.
