The Amazon Corner
Prime Time Partnership: Amazon Joins Forces with Social Media Giants
Amazon is partnering with social media giants like TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat to drive revenue growth. The company's CEO, Andy Jassy, has spent the past 24 months negotiating this partnership despite internal opposition from some executives who fear that it will take away business from Amazon's own platform.
However, Amazon insists that their ads on these apps will make it easier for customers to buy products without diverting traffic away from their site. This move also presents challenges as these social media apps develop their own e-commerce offerings and may compete with Amazon's advertising business. But Amazon seems determined to stay ahead of the game by expanding its "Project Handshake" initiative to include video and AI-powered chatbots.
Fulfillment Frenzy: How Walmart is Changing the Game
Walmart will allow third-party sellers to use its supply chain and manage returns from any e-commerce site. This program, called Multichannel Solutions, will be available to all U.S. marketplace sellers starting Sept. 10.
This new program intensifies Walmart's competition with Amazon and is being positioned as a more cost-effective option for sellers, offering reliable shipping at competitive rates. However, there are limitations to the program, such as product requirements and limited delivery locations. But that's not all. Other fulfillment-related initiatives were also announced at Walmart's marketplace seller summit, including Walmart LocalFinds and the Preferred Carrier program for full truckload shipments.
